Police check computers, phones in search for Durham boy, woman

Durham, N.C. — Police are examining laptop computers and cellphones for evidence in the disappearances of a Durham boy and woman, according to search warrants released Friday. Jadon Higganbothan, 5, hasn’t been seen since October, and Antoinetta Yvonne McKoy, 28, has been missing since December. Investigators said in a previous search warrant that Jadon’s mother, Vania Rae Sisk, and her boyfriend, Peter Lucas Moses, were “directly involved” in their deaths.

“DURHAM, N.C. — Two people who were arrested in connection with a murder in Durham, N.C. Tuesday night are former residents of Colorado Springs. Durham Police officers arrested 25-year-old Vania Sisk and her 27-year-old boyfriend Peter Moses Jr. Tuesday night in connection with the death of a woman and a 5-year-old boy. Authorities said they have not filed murder charges but were able to arrest the two on other charges. They are charging Sisk with failure to appear in court and an earlier misdemeanor marijuana possession charge, and Moses Jr. faces second degree kidnapping and assault on a female charges.”

While in Durham, NC today, (April 12, 2011) this story came to my attention. It took me a few minutes to realize just what I was seeing and hearing. The word “cult” grabbed my attention.
From abc11.com– here is the latest report filed this evening. I saw a report around noon today that included some of this footage. My hopes are that Peter Moses and/or whoever is responsible for the crimes will be brought to justice – quickly.
Here is a quote for a story on March 8, 2011 in the “Mail Online”
“A boy of six who has been missing since October has reportedly been murdered by the leader of a polygamous cult. Little Jadon Higganbothan is feared to have been fatally shot allegedly by Peter Moses, the head of the Black Hebrews in North Carolina, during a wild rage. The child’s mother Vania Sisk, who is a member of the group, is also claimed to have shot dead another woman during a separate bloody episode. The allegations were made by a former member of the Black Hebrews who has left the group and has come forward to police. She was one of nine adults and nine children who lived in a house in Durham, under control of 27-year-old Moses.”(pictures are in the article)

“From CNN- A former member of Moses’ Black Hebrew group who “escaped” told Durham police that they were present when Moses killed Higganbothan in a house on Pear Tree Lane in Durham in October 2010. According to the affidavit, the informant said that Moses became angry at Jadon and called him down to the basement. The informant claimed they then heard loud music and a gunshot and later saw Moses place the boy’s body in a suitcase and hide it in the attic.”
There is a video in this post from WRAL in Raleigh quoting the missing boy’s father.
“I feel like law enforcement is kind of dragging it along,” Higganbothan said. “They let both of them slip out from underneath their arms in the state of Colorado when they had an opportunity to keep them in custody.” Sisk, Moses and others moved to Colorado Springs early this year, and Durham police asked Colorado authorities to check on Jadon’s whereabouts. Authorities put several other children in the Colorado Springs home into protective custody but couldn’t find Jadon.” (emphasis added)

Jadon Higganbothan, whose mother is reportedly a member of a splinter group of the Black Hebrews sect, has been missing since October. An ex-member told police the boy was shot dead by cult leader Peter Moses, according to a warrant obtained by NBC News. The unidentified former member also accused Higganbothan’s mother, Vania Sisk, of beating and fatally shooting Antoinetta McKoy, a missing North Carolina woman thought to have been living with the group. The former member told Durham police that Moses, 27, “had grabbed a gun and began pacing angrily around the house” in October before calling Higganbothan into the basement, shooting him and then stuffing the boy’s plastic-wrapped body in the attic. When the body began to smell a few days later, Moses allegedly agreed to “remove” it, the informant said.”
