The article below, dated April 28, 2010, is one where the pastor admits buying fancy cars and homes. But, he denies tax evasion… We will list several articles to give you some background. By listing this information, we are not insinuating in anyway that the pastors in question are in a cult or mind control group. We have no knowledge of the churches. However, the charges are serious and newsworthy.
The Associated Press
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A North Carolina pastor says the millions in income, fancy cars and homes he and his wife received from their congregation was generous.
But The Charlotte Observer reported that Anthony Jinwright on Tuesday denied tax evasion allegations.
Jinwright acknowledged taking “too much” compensation from his Charlotte congregation and making innocent financial mistakes.
Prosecutors accuse him and his wife Harriet of failing to report about $1.8 million of the $5 million in income they received over five years from the Greater Salem City of God church.

(original article has a picture of Jinwright) Testimony in Bishop Anthony Jinwright’s fraud and tax evasion trial came to an end Friday, four weeks after lawyers began presenting evidence.Federal prosecutors finished their roughly 11-hour cross-examination of the Charlotte pastor after suggesting he willfully under reported his taxable income – even after praying with a colleague who’d been indicted on similar charges….
(further down in the article ) – But Assistant U.S. Attorney David Brown said Jinwright should have known better – especially after watching what happened to his friend, the Rev. John Henry Walker, a Charlotte minister who was indicted in 2006 on tax evasion and bank fraud charges. Walker later pleaded guilty and is serving five years in prison.

This paragraph was particularly interesting..
“Prosecutors had pushed for a 10-year sentence, saying Walker’s “powers of persuasion” were a danger to his congregation. Walker’s attorney, touting the pastor’s military service and his previous career as a Greensboro firefighter, asked the judge to consider probation and home detention.”
The front page was confusing, as if Rev John Walker is still leading the church. But, the page “Who Are We?” had another Pastor and co-Pastor’s picture…??? Anyway, serious charges with serious consequences.

In reference to your comment about the front page of the Macedonia Website being confusing because if you look at the Who are We page, you will see another pastor and co-pastor: I believe that is John Walker and his wife still identifying themselves as leading this church
Thank you for clearing up my confusion. I appreciate you reading and commenting. – John
