There was always a new revelation according to Jane that every “sister church” was required to follow. There was a young man who lived near the church in Leland, N.C. who was put on church discipline for some sort of infraction. He was not allowed to attend church. I recall hearing through the leadership, to whom I had access because of my husband, that a spanking was in order. Spanking a grown man? 20 years ago. I can only imagine to what degree these practices have escalated. How can anyone with half a brain think this acceptable?
