Jane-fear can best be described as the rolling, twisting knots that come up in your stomach when you think you are about to be corrected or rebuked whether in private or in a public meeting. This can happen as soon as you hear her name or see her enter a room. For some, these knots don’t have to be in this scenario, they could be there just on the hint of doing something wrong or breaking a rule of WOFF. Just the idea of breaking an unwritten rule or “missing God” can cause the sweats and shakes and fear knots in some. First, does this sound like “safe religion?” Second, I contend that it is this foundation that allows even survivors of many years being out of WOFF to have persistent nightmares. Again, does this sound like the result of “safe religion?”

John and Susan…
Susan your comments are so perfectly right on the money on every count. And it is hard for outsiders to understand how the WOFF parents allow their children to endure all the demands of WOFF life and abuse of “prayer” because Jane Whaley dictates it but John explains it so well as only he can…we had family who have been in WOFF for years and they are so completely indoctrinated and so cut off from the real world they can’t see how insane and psychotic Jane is…they are fiercely protective…but again it is a loyalty with FEAR at its core…not real admiration or love – fear of Jane’s retribution on them by shunning or worse if they don’t defend her in every way.
The good news as the Jane Whaley never anticipated the internet and social media…see John’s links here to the Facebook page Citizens Against County Corruption. We pray every day that our family within WOFF will somehow be awakened to reality and realize their true family is waiting for them with open arms outside WOFF. They can still worship God in all his glory – they don’t Jane to do that.

Your call for an investigation is being echoed across the rivers and valleys of social media. As to your question- “Why join a “church” that runs your family?”- Many of the members inside have been there for YEARS! The group did not start out at the intense level of control it is now. With this group as with others… they changed over time and many of the controlling measures were gradual and hid under the guise of “Scripture.” Of course, it is easier to see the rouse from the outside- but when you are in the middle of the drama, the needed clarity is hard to find and to act on the desire to leave comes at a heavy price for all. That being said- freedom is still better than captivity.

I am so sorry for all of the pain that you all have endured while being at WOFF.
Until we can get someone in here that is NOT corrupted by WOFF in this county, nothing will be done. Rutherford County is the worst county of corruption that I have ever seen. From WOFF, the judges, the lawyers, and DSS. DSS needs to be investigated for all of their wrong doings too. I feel we need a federal investigation. I wouldn’t ask the state because who knows they might have some members at the state level too. I pray that this “church and Jane Whaley” will be brought down soon. I want to say to the parents ” You are old enough to realize the real world and what this church does to you and your family. You are suppose to PROTECT your child!” That is your job NOT Jane Whaley. Lord knows she isn’t protecting any one but herself. Why join a “church” that runs your family? How can you live in that type of an environment? Wake up people, get some common sense back and realize what is truly going on at this so called “church”

Thank you for sharing your stories…I am so sorry for your pain and suffering and that you could not find comfort, compassion, safety or love within Word of Faith. Our family began to notice slowly the changes occurring within WOFF over the years including tighter restrictions/control…and sadly we had not realized the extent to which Jane’s madness had progressed until the last few years when many issues came to light for us. Please continue to share your stories…hopefully you will find strength in numbers with John and all of us out here. It is so important for you as well as for the remaining members caught up in Jane Whaley’s web of lies. There is no true “love” in WOFF – only “control”. And to hear that children are still being allowed to be adopted into WOFF makes me heartsick…if any authorities outside the county are seeing all of this, please begin to take some action. John, thank you again for continuing to keep this information in the forefront.

John,
I was born and grew up in Rutherford County. I have always wondered about this church, because as teenagers, everyone referred to it as a cult. How can we help put a stop to this? As a devout Christian, this is a horrible misrepresentation of the church and of God. As a human being, and graced by God with a fierce streak of independence from anyone but Him, this outrages be that people can be controlled and hurt in these ways, especially children! My dad lives right down the road from the church so, even though I live in Shelby, I pass by it frequently. Please let me know what can be done. My preacher often speaks out against Word of Faith, and I have always felt something sinister was going on.
