When one considers the content of many of these posts, the question comes to mind – What are the possible defenses offered by Word of Faith Fellowship (WOFF), in light of this information? As I have stated before, the foundation of the blog is the experience I had on the INSIDE of this group. Many posts on this personal blog expound upon and compare my experiences with those of other survivors of other mind control or religious cult groups. I also use the writings of certain experts in the field of mind control and/or cults to analyze certain of my experiences, in light of their research and material. I attempt to qualify my statements, as much as possible, when I express opinions based on these experiences and on further reading, after exiting WOFF.
This entire process has been enlightening and exciting in many ways. Over the last two years since my exit from WOFF, I have found that some folks would rather not read or talk about such “dark subjects” as religious mind control groups or cults. One person recently said to me that he did not want to cast off or put down another person’s beliefs. I made the point that it is not the beliefs by themselves that come under scrutiny, but those beliefs which are used to support the practices which experts believe are tied directly with mind control and/or the control of others. Some folks find it hard to actually make assessments of other groups that call themselves “churches” for fear of being accused of judging the members of that group. That caution is noted and respected.
However, let it also be noted that my intentions are to shed light on the practices within groups that cause members to lose the ability to make informed decisions and/or give up certain unalienable rights and freedoms, which are afforded to leadership of that group or society as a whole. The people, who make it a habit to control others in the name of religion, will suffer their due, over time. It is the exposure of such practices that many readers find fascinating. (So I am told…) The hunger to root out deception, either in myself or others- or both, and bring to light such practices, resulted in the majority of the posts on this blog.
So, let us list as many as defenses of WOFF as possible, some known and some pure conjecture. As we list, we will answer them one by one.
The first defense of WOFF that has been brought to my attention personally, by current WOFF members is that all of my postings are “lies”. (see here.. in “Knock at the Door”.. http://religiouscultsinfo.com/?p=572 ) This was told to me on February 15, 2010. Previous to that time, I posted about the comparison of WOFF to the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (FLDS) formerly run by Warren Jeffs. I have also asked the question, Am I Wrong?, based on the facts? (see here… http://religiouscultsinfo.com/?p=117 ) In answer to this accusation of “lies”; I must ask what benefit it would be to me to lie about my experiences. I read very little fiction and do not consider myself to have such skill, as to fabricate these accounts of what happened at WOFF. I admit, the experiences I relay have a surreal quality about them, but I have had no reason at all to embellish. Over and over, I state that my memory for certain details may be not totally accurate, but the content of these posts, I stand by with conviction. If I have posted “lies” or even one detail out of order or wrong all together, then someone with better recall or hard evidence, step forward and let me know. Upon review, I will publish the needed corrections.
How likely is it that the details, in these posts about my experiences at WOFF are lies when other former members have commented with confirmation to these posts? Some former members have ADDED further detail, which I had forgotten! Are all former members liars about every experience they ever had at WOFF? Or is it just the ones like me, who tell those WOFF experiences?
How likely is it that WOFF members do not want to debate the facts, because it would only serve to shed further light on their decision to hide from the truth: Jane Whaley and WOFF practice mind control? Once that fact is plain in their sight, there would be tough, emotional decisions to make, which on this subject, seems “easier” for WOFF members to avoid.
How likely is it that the person accusing me of posting “lies” was offended? Is it likely she had conferred with Jane Whaley about this blog and was repeating the accusation from that meeting? Is it likely at that point, that there was concern, at WOFF, for just which direction and how much of the truth about the WOFF practices, that I would tell? It was decided that rather than debate the facts of the happenings, just categorically deny and refute this blog as “lies”. For Jane Whaley and WOFF members, this seemed like the easy way out. As I wrote then, I repeat- please, keep reading.
What are some other possible defenses to the information revealed in this blog? Maybe, John just does not understand the “love of God” through Jane Whaley. If Jane’s actions over the years, when she berated other members in the services and myself in the meeting on April 9, 2008, is the “love of God”; then yes, I do not understand that as “love”. Public humiliation of a member for picking up grocery flyers and bringing them back to the church for other members, does not constitute the love of God- to me. John, you are not posting “lies” but are telling the truth!!! As for the vistors from the “knock on the door” post, they would not have come to see you without “checking it out” with AUTHORITY (who would have checked it out with a higher authority….Jane Whaley) to get PERMISSION to come CONFRONT you!!! I do remember some things rather well. I was even told that was a “sin” in my life that I wasn’t leaning on God, but my own abilities. Weird, right. I will not make light of someone’s beliefs, but error and mind control are wrong. What are the children being taught, not to rely on JESUS but WWJD/WWJS…..meaning WHAT WOULD JANE DO ….WHAT WOULD JANE SAY. AND that is the truth!!!! Keep up the GOOD WORK you are doing. Thank you for this information. I crave knowing the truth about this cult and the more to stand up against it, the better! I just want to reach out to these people and quiz how “Right” they are about their way of life. I want to tell them so much about thinking for themselves, and allowing children (most of all) to laugh, play, and use their imaginations. WE ARE HUMAN, JANE! The thing is, she is too- somehow. I work with some of these folks and yes, they are hard workers, but there is so much more to it than working hard. Face value does not show individual, moral standards as they seem to believe. Keep fighting the good fight.
